London Fog Earl Grey Lavender Latte
Do you have a comfort drink? I’m not talking about your morning cup of coffee, or tea. I am talking about that super special drink, you only have on special occasions. The one that instantly ports you out of whatever is going on in your life at that very moment that you want to escape, if only just for a few seconds? That one. That one for me is the London Fog Earl Grey Lavender Latte.
I don’t remember my very first cup of earl grey, but I do have very fond memories of late night rock climbing followed by big mugs of steaming earl grey and great convos with some amazing friends. I am pretty sure, that is what got me hooked for life on the magic that is earl grey. Then enter that big coffee chain with the green mermaid goddess. I do remember the first time I saw their London Fog Latte and ordered it…I felt like I had won the lottery! I then immediately set about recreating my own at home recipe, perfect for those moments in which you need a lifeline to sanity.
The Super Food Sneak
Do you know how amazing bergamot oil is? It is super amazing! Bergamot is said to help reduce anxiety and stress while acting as an antidepressant. Maybe that is why I am so happy while drinking this latte? Do a quick google search if you are curious as to the other benefits bergamot provides!
There are actually a couple ways/options to make this. First is using an earl grey tea bag and brewing it in milk. However that way usually takes longer, and lets be honest, sometimes you just don’t have all day! The second, faster way is using bergamot essential oil. **NOTE- make sure if you are using an essential oil, that it is approved for dietary use! (Most are not.) I use these.
This London Fog Earl Grey Lavender Latte is my bliss drink! Great for hectic days and perfect for laundry procrastination. You know what I’m saying! I hope this drink brings you even half the joy it brings me! 🙂
London Fog- Earl Grey Lavender Latte
- 1 mug almond milk
- 1 splash vanilla
- 2-3 drops bergamot oil start with 2 drops, add another if a stronger taste is desired.
- 1 drop lavender oil
- 1 splash sweetener- agave, honey, coconut nectar, etc. to taste
If using a blender with a heat option- add all ingredients and blend until warm and has a nice foam top.
If using a microwave, warm up the milk. Then toss into a blender with the rest of the ingredients and blend for a few seconds to mix and get a foam top.
If doing the stove top version, add all ingredients to a pan and whisk until warm with a foamy layer on top.
Pour into a mug and enjoy!
Recipe NotesOptional- use an earl grey tea bag instead of bergamot oil, just blend all ingredients together, pour in a mug, and allow your tea bag to steep for 5 plus minutes and enjoy! **Note- Only use essential oils that are approved for dietary use! (I use these.)
