About Creative Kitchening
Are you looking for ways to sneak, bribe, or shove healthier food into your diet and your family’s? Worried that eating healthier will cost too much or take too much time? If so, welcome to our little creative food tribe! Here we do all things kitchen, with a healthy flair! Our goal at Creative Kitchening is to sneak in as much healthy food as possible into the diets of the unsuspecting!
A little about me…I am a wife. Mommy to two adorable little girls. Owner of a leopard hybrid, Rajah Khan (Raj). Runner. Yogi. Competitive guru. Favorite weather is extra thunderstormy with no sun in sight. Current accomplishments include: Memorizing the first six seasons of My Little Pony, as well as a fluent speaker of toddler. My dream job title is domestic beach goddess. I can often be found concocting all sorts of random things in the kitchen.
My creative start in the kitchen happened at a young age. I was diagnosed with PKU at birth, which basically means I have to eat a very low protein diet. So I have to be vegetarian/plant based as meat and dairy are both too high in protein for me. Because of this, I was forced to get creative in the kitchen, adjusting recipes and making up new ones that fit my diet.
My kitchen goals now include finding just how many healthy foods I can sneak into my husband’s and kids’ food without them knowing! I love to play around with food and recipes, making them healthier. While my husband is constantly pushing my cooking and baking to be faster, more efficient, and cheaper.
What you can find on the blog
First off, at Creative Kitchening you will find lots of recipes! We love to make up new and exciting recipes involving healthy foods, or substituting healthier forms. You can often find us in the kitchen, blending up acai bowls, guzzling down mugs of coffee, or getting creative with food. While we tend to eat a lot of sweeter foods, my husband provides the balance with all the salty chips…seriously, he can down a bag in one sitting! You can find all healthy recipe posts here.
Recipes take on many forms, so you will occasionally see a post about a healthy living “recipe” like a new workout we like to do, or a great detox bath mix! I strongly feel that we need to remember to take time to focus on mental and physical health as much as food and eating healthy. Besides, what is better than eating a super healthy ice cream bowl with a glass of wine in the bath tub? You can find all healthy lifestyle posts here.
Last, but definitely not least, you will be able to find kid posts! These include mommy and me activities to do with kids like easy baking or exercise games, my girls’ favorite recipes, and birthday parties. You can find all healthy kid posts here.
What You Won’t Find
Admittedly, I am not a meat chef. Since I didn’t grow up eating meat, it has never been something I have really cooked. No worries if you are a meat eater, just know that you probably won’t find any meat recipes on this site. 🙂 However you will find tons of other yummy recipes like coconut banana muffins!
Do you have special eating requirements? Have a favorite recipe you would like to be made healthier, gluten free, or dairy free, etc? I specialize in reworking recipes to fit your dietary needs. Please send in an email so we can discuss what you are looking for!
